Other Significant Factors:
The learning environment provided at Rolling Hills is student oriented with an emphasis on striving for personal best and care for the individual as well as the team. The school provides a wide range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities to acknowledge the diversity of learning styles, interests and talents of our students. These include: musical performances, choir, Instrumental Music Program, Health and Sexuality Education, Buddy Program, Seasons for Growth, Literacy and Numeracy support, Mentoring, a variety of student wellbeing programs, Gateways, SunSmart, Swimming Instruction, Inter-school Sport, Camping, Junior School Council, transition activities and curriculum focussed excursions.
We are proud participants in the National Sustainable Schools Program and have eSmart accreditation.
The classroom program is enriched and supported by specialists in Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts and Cultural studies from Prep to 6. Most specialist programs have their own allocated learning space, with Science embedded into our Inquiry curriculum.
Information Technology is being afforded an increasing significance school-wide. Our fully networked school is linked to the world-wide web and an intranet facility. All classrooms have access to computers, iPads and teaching screens.
At Rolling Hills PS, there is significant opportunity for leadership growth for both teaching and ES staff. Professional development is available for all staff to build the necessary skills to pursue the career path of your choice.
Rolling Hills has a strong focus on student well-being which underpins all school programs. We follow the Tribes process to develop a strong learning community, where all members are supported to become independent, life-long learners.
Rolling Hills Primary School began its first year on 4th February, 1986, in temporary accommodation at Bimbadeen Heights Primary School, moving to our new buildings on 5th March 1986.
Eleven teaching and three ancillary staff, along with 134 children, representing 78 families from the communities of Bimbadeen Heights and Lilydale West, had the responsibility of continuing the work of the enthusiastic dedicated group who formed the original Planning Advisory Group.
While housed under the one-roof-line the school was originally constructed in a series of inter-connected units which included administration and staff areas, classrooms, wet areas, physical education centre, large canteen/catering area, art/craft room, music and drama-room areas.
The whole school community today, can rightly feel proud of its significant achievements in the policies, programs and facilities that place this school at the forefront of primary education in this area.
