The focus of the Physical Education Program at Rolling Hills Primary School is to deliver a program of sequential skill development, promoting fun, fitness and a positive attitude to participation.  Students in all year levels participate in one hour Physical Education lessons each week, with an additional hour of Level Sport for Levels 3 - 6.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in numerous extra-curricular programs throughout the year including:

Swimming is an integral part of the Victorian Curriculum and the Rolling Hills Physical Education Program and it is recommended that all students participate.  The program offers 5 lessons of 40 minute duration, taken by fully qualified instructors.  Children work in small groups based on their swimming ability.

School Carnivals

Athletics – This is a whole school event with students from Foundation to Level 6 participating in activities such as sprints, long jump, discus, shot put, relays, hurdles and tunnel ball.  We are very excited about this component of our sporting calendar.

Cross Country – Students in Level 3 - 6 participate in the Cross Country carnival at Lillydale Lake. This prepares students who finish in the top 10 for the District Carnival which is held at the same venue.

District Sports

Each year, Rolling Hills selects a team to represent our school at the District level for both Athletics and Cross Country.  From here, students have the opportunity to progress through to Division, Regional and State finals for both of these events.

Inter School Sport (Level 6)

Level 6 students have the opportunity to participate in Inter School Sport in both Terms 1 & 2.

In Term 1, we play a Round Robin Day against students from Montrose, Mt Evelyn, Pembroke, Ruskin Park and St Mary’s.  Students compete in the following sports: Cricket, T-Ball, Rounders, Boys Softball and Girls Softball.

In Term 2, students have the opportunity to participate in Netball, Football, Soccer and Volleyball.  Inter School Sport in Term 2 is held on Friday afternoons against the same schools as in Term 1.  A roster will be available towards the end of Term 1.

Hoop Time (Grades 3 – 6)

Each year at Rolling Hills, our students from levels 3 - 6 have the opportunity to participate in McDonald’s Hoop Time; a day of playing Basketball against students from both Rolling Hills and many other schools.  Level 3/4 students will be involved in the Junior competition, whilst our Level 5/6 students will be in the Senior competition.

Students of all basketball abilities are invited to play and are grouped into teams based on their basketball experience.  For example, if your child has never played basketball before they will be put in a Rookies team and will play against other Rookies teams.

As we always enter numerous teams, we love any assistance that parents can provide on our Hoop Time days.

Over the last few years, Rolling Hills had junior and senior teams make it to the Regional Finals with our senior teams progressing through to the State finals!

Hoop Time is a very exciting and fun day!
